Congratulations on your decision to take part in Lincoln’s Emerging Leaders Program.

Emerging Leaders (EL) is an ONLINE Leadership Training and Development program for your entire team. Each month we explore a different leadership topic in depth. Over the course of the month the team are given opportunities to develop that skill through pre-training work, the training module itself and Lincoln-generated follow-up work.

The training will be conducted via webinar and where possible, your entire team should attend the training at the same time. If anyone can’t attend your “live” group training session, they can watch the recording that we make available after each month’s live session – for viewing at your convenience.

The training has been designed as non-sequential, so if you are not starting at the commencement of term (March) or you miss a training session, it does not impact on your team’s ability participate in the program.

We hope that you embrace Emerging Leaders to its fullest extent, and we commit to making a tremendous impact on the effectiveness of every member of your team.

Program objective

The objective of the Emerging Leaders program is to equip every member of your team with a practical working knowledge of the leadership skills necessary for them to operate at their most effective.

The core benefits of the program are:

Increased individual team member accountability

Success in business requires that we be flexible, adaptable and open to the inevitable challenges of providing a service to the general public. To be well prepared for this, it is not enough for just the ‘leadership team’ to be skilled in accountability. It takes a ‘culture’ of accountability across the entire team – ultimately because you or your manager won’t always be there to be able to assist in every decision your team makes.

Increased team member engagement

Your team is your biggest asset and a strong culture is your greatest competitive advantage. Your ‘best’ will be the first to leave if they sense a lack of commitment to making the workplace an engaging and positive place to be.

Making sure that each member of your team is clear on your expectations of them, has clearly defined roles and has clarity around their goals and how these contribute to the greater good of the business are just 3 ways in which leadership training across your team will drive engagement.

Increased retention

The cost of ‘presenteeism’ (mentally ‘checked out’), performance management, re-hiring and ramping up both technically and culturally is up to 4 times a team member’s salary. Retention of your most valuable people is critical and investing in them by way of personal leadership afforded by Emerging Leaders is integral to your retention strategy.

Program scope

The Lincoln’s Emerging Leaders Program – Block Syllabus sets out the topics that will be covered over 24 monthly modules.

The training is highly engaging and interactive. As such, each practice will require a team leader “Guru” (normally a member of your leadership team) to ‘co-facilitate’ the training. Their role will be to assist their teams in some small activities throughout the training. A 20-minute pre-training webinar for the team leaders will be held in the first week of each month to walk through any training assistance needs.

Training sessions contain some pre-recorded elements and are presented live each month, with a live interactive Q&A and Polling following the presentation, teams will be expected to assemble in your break room and be able to observe the practice computer screen and listen to the commentary.

Individual polling will be conducted at the end of the training sessions so team members will be invited to bring their mobile device. They will be given a website login at the commencement of the training so that they can answer the questions as they appear on their device. Collective participating Practice results will stream live (anonymously) for all to observe.

Course work

Course folders will be provided to each member of your team during your first paid month of Emerging Leaders subscription.

To print the Workbooks and Guru Guides, your guru will log in to your Bridge account, click on the module you are participating in this month and locate the PDFs to download and print,

Your practice will also be given a Guru guide with additional notes on the specific outcomes of each training session. This will be talked through during the ‘Guru’ training available at the end of the first week of each month.

Assessment work

Assessment is done on a continuous basis throughout the year. There will be a short multiple-choice questionnaire to be completed by each team member at the end of each training module which will ensure that the training objectives of each session have been understood by all members of your team.
